Denver Colorado

We've settled into Chatfield State Park outside of Denver CO. This is one of the finest state parks we've ever stayed at - full hookups, paved spacious sites and beautiful views.

The weather has been nice every morning, but we are in the middle of monsoon season and storms come through each afternoon. The skies have been pretty spectacular at times when the clouds roll in off the foothills. Here are some pictures from our campsite and around the park.

We spent some time in downtown Denver taking in a few brew-pubs and restaurants. It was interesting seeing all the pot stores. Marijuana is legal here since the beginning of 2014, and you can buy it for about $150 an ounce. Having lived through the 60's and 70's (and we might have inhaled a couple of times), it's pretty cool to see pot for sale legally. Here is a view of Downtown Denver.

There was a glass exhibit at the Denver botanical gardens. The famous artist Chihuly set up the exhibit, and it was really beautiful. He places his glass sculptures amongst the botanicals and it's really beautiful. Here are a few examples.

This was a really impressive exhibit - it's only in Denver up to October 2014. It's worth a visit if Chihuly sets up something in your home city.

Middle America to Colorado

It's been a while since I've posted... we've traveled across middle america and are now in Colorado.

In Indiana (the self-proclaimed RV capital of the world) we visited some Motorhome factories and an RV museum. It was pretty interesting to see some of the vintage RV's from the early days.

We also visited LaGrange Indiana where I spotted an interesting intersection where Detroit Street crosses Michigan Street. I had to snap a picture since I was born in Detroit Michigan.

There are lots of Amish people living here (even more than in Lancaster PA it seems). I spotted some buggies parked at the County Courthouse.

We enjoyed the character of Northern Indiana - an area filled with RV factories and Amish farms. But 4 days was enough. We then traveled another 4 days across Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska and Eastern Colorado to our current destination outside of Denver.
